This piece features a wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton warp. The light, pearl-colored field displays an open version of the allover Persian Herati pattern, with large, two-tone “fish” leaves, along with less prominent open diamonds and rosettes. In the center of the field is a black horse and rider. There is also an illegible rectangular inscription panel at one end of the field. The border panel abrashes in a wide range of red and rose tones and is adorned with cartouches.
