East Turkestan, Early 20th Century
6 ft. x 11 ft. 3 in.

A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The mauve field displays two columns of converging pomegranate trees sprouting from tiny vases. The fruit and vases are in red-rust.  The red main border shows unusual independent flower modules, and the secondary large border shows Turkmen-style motives. The pomegranate tree is the most popular Khotanese field pattern.
