A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Somehow, somebody got hold of a book on Turkish Transylvanian rugs and commissioned a larger tribal example with a closely copied cartouche border, corner rosettes, gnarly cloud bands, and a doubly pointed field with palmettes, all in the characteristic semi-geometric style. This is a perfect rug to confuse collectors and experts far into the future. The weavers can make anything given a useful prototype. Slate, straw, red, green and ecru palette.
