Antique Persian Bidjar Oversize Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. The well-abrashed light slate field shows fifteen offset rows of twelve petal cogwheel rosettes in straw, sand and brick, with tonally in-and-out flowers set between. There are two apple and tendril ecru minors, an outermost plain slate, and a central brown strip style reversing turtles major stripe. A highly decorative Pre-WWI special order. Robust and compactly woven.
