A wool pile with symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This striking village rug features a large, stepped, abrashed grey upper lozenge with a red 'tongue' section, set against a charcoal field adorned with small peacocks, nightingales, and stick figures. Below is a smaller finger-fringed diamond containing little botehs. The ecru main border displays chains of palmettes and botehs, with a reversing fan palmette inner frame. A collectible rug from a commercially successful center. Moderate weave.
