A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. A visual pair to rug #18684. This piece depicts the young ruler Ahmad Shah of Persia, sashed and in ceremonial military dress, seated half-length in a chair against a plain elliptical bone ground. A red clipeate border of rosettes and other flowers edges the medallion, with cream corners beyond. A pale straw main border shows full and side palmettes.
