An antique Persian Malayer carpet. The field is patterned with a close lozenge lattice of randomly placed colored panels with flowering plant motives, all in ivory, camel, straw, sand, black, rust and tawny yellow, among others. The effect is vaguely Joshegan, but the proportions of the cells are wrong. Not Bakhtiari either, but sui generis west Persian. A most impressive carpet with a well-executed double curved leaf and rosette main ivory border.
