An antique Persian Tabriz carpet. This richly toned town carpet from a proficient workshop displays a classic Persian cypress, weeping willow and leafy tree pattern (Bid Majnun design) on a dark brown field. The gently scalloped ogival medallion displays emphatically mobile cloud bands and four birds including pheasants and a crane. Lesser birds and cloud bands continue the theme into the border. A most attractive and well executed finely woven carpet.
