An antique Persian Tabriz carpet. Quatrefoil and spade-shaped panels are defined by thick arabesques on the brown ground of this NW Persian city carpet. Four panels enclose paired pheasants. The bold strapwork and palmette decoration of the main border is directly adapted from 16th century originals.
