This magnificent west Persian antique village weaving shows a large diamond lattice defined by barbed leaves. The variously colored reserves all show four rosette patterns. Design descends from 17th century Kerman carpets and is close to several museum examples, but much bolder and stronger. Ecru border with five flower quatrefoils and large slanted leaves. All decorative components are over-scaled and render a real artistic punch. Cotton foundation, medium-coarse weave. Light even wear, good condition.
