A wool pile with symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The black field is centered by a round cartouche with acanthus scroll edges, depicting a turbaned and bearded Shi'ite Islamic cleric in portrait length. He is identified in a small cartouche beneath. The coral border features two levels of forked leaves and small palmettes. Finely woven.
