Vintage Chinese Art Deco Room Size Carpet

A Wool pile with symmetric knots on a cotton foundation, this carpet features a rust red field and a lemon yellow border, united by exuberant, compound floral branches that symmetrically—though not identically—emanate from each end. Enormous garden flowers grow inward from the middle sides. The blossoms are shaded to emphasize their tactile character. The main sprays are further embellished with ribbons, and the yellow border is adorned with smaller flowering stems along its entire length. There are at least ten distinct tones throughout.
