A vintage Chinese Peking rug. The fanned out peacock tail corners on this Chinese Peking carpet from the famous Fette factory are totally diagnostic, and the light and almost pastel palette include medium, light, sky and pale blues, ecru and beige. The open field is in a quadrilobe layout. There is nothing overtly Chinese about the design. Helen Fette was a successful American carpet entrepreneur between the wars and almost all of that company’s production went to America.
