A wool pile with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation, inscribed. The Shi’ite caliph ‘Ali stands in a teaching position, wearing a red cloak and holding a red Quran, beneath an inscribed ecru pointed arch supported by spiral columns. The interior scene features red and white floor tiles in perspective, with some tiles inscribed. The dark blue border is decorated with rough squiggles.
