A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. This little Qashghai tribal weaving shows a three by eight arrangement of rectangles in ecru, rose, pale rose, and sapphire blue, all with internal quincunxes, and on a dark brown ground. Maybe a chanteh (shoulder bag) face or a practice piece by a neophyte artisan. A very unusual and stylistically direct piece.
