A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. This baroquely bizarre Fars Province Qashghai tribal scatter features a cherry-red edge-to-edge field, with a large rounded cartouche in the upper section, resting on royal blue, straw-sand, and rust brackets. The cartouche encloses a random spray of cream dots, lines, and groupings of dashes. Additional random arrays decorate the sides, and rows and single quasi-numerals appear at the bottom. A truly unusual rug with no obvious parallels.
