A wool pile with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Clearly inspired by an official portrait, this unusual Kashan pictorial depicts the last Shah, Reza Shah, Shahbanu, and their young son in an interior setting, with the Persian royal crown, Persian flag, and identifying Nasta'liq inscriptions floating across the putty-colored ground. The border features floral scrollwork.
