A wool pile of symmetrical relief knots on a cotton foundation, with a balanced plainweave ground and weft brocading in wool across two panels. Although truncated at the ends, this charming village scatter features two raised columns of uniformly upright and reversed sheep, arranged in pairs or triplets, in tones of chocolate, red, rust, green, light blue, ochre, and ivory, set against a rose-colored plainweave flat field. Made in two pieces. The coral border is decorated with up-and-down arrowhead chains. A captivating piece of folk art, regardless of its condition.
