This well-woven rug let shows a mounted warrior, probably ‘Ali, the Sword of Islam, brandishing a sword (what else), with palm trees and tents behind. The rider is rayed like the sun, a common depiction of both Muhammed and ‘Ali. The inscription confirms the subject’s identity. Cotton foundation.
