A vintage Persian Shiraz Pictorial rug. On a red field with a long-horned goat at each end, stands an orange lion facing right. His body is filled with decorative broken stripes, flowers, dots and assorted squiggles. The lion looks more cuddly than fierce. The ivory main border is a pleasing jumble of geometric flowers and more abstract elements. This a fun nomadic rug from South Persia and would make a fine wall hanging. The severe plainness of the cardinal red field contrasts with the random busyness of the lion’s body.
