A vintage Persian Tabriz carpet. The pendant-chained rust medallion stands out on the sandy, cartouche-shaped subfield with an encircling swirl of curving vines and floral devices. The ivory main border displays lotus leaves along with the more standard palmettes and linking leafy tendrils. This northwest Persian city carpet dates from the 1930’s or so.
