Vintage Persian Tabriz Pictorial Rug

A vintage Persian Tabriz Pictorial rug. Tabriz weavers will shamelessly copy or adapt anything. Here they have made a clever version of a Farahan or Malayer pattern. The sapphire blue ground has four vases arrayed around a crosshatched hexagonal medallion and two triangular “mountains”. The pale yellow border has more urns topped with floral octagons. The weave is very good and the texture is that of the best Hajji Jalili period pieces of the later 19^th century.
