A vintage Persian Tabriz Pictorial rug. What is/are the story(ies) here? This Tabriz scatters from Persia shows a royal rider, a small Majnun with his animals and a large Layla, all above Shirin and the sculptor/mason Farhad working Mt. Bisutun. The central rider must be Khosrau. So the stories are from Nizami’s Khamseh, as interpreted in a vigorous style by a rustic weaver. Not your usual Persian picture rug.
