A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This fine, short warp currency rug depicts a thousand tomans denomination note with the Shah’s portrait to the right, and inscriptions and numerals on a pale blue ground with a winged Achaemenid bull. Plain white reserve to the left. A thousand tomans today is only a fraction of a cent.
