Vintage Turkish Flatweave Kilim Room Size Carpet

Wool facing/pattern wefts.This piece is made in four vertical sections, with two striped and two plain light beige sections, all warp-faced. The patterned sections feature vertical bands in two shades of undyed, natural brown—medium and dark. Although the composition is unbalanced, it works eccentrically. The dimensions are adjustable. These surprisingly modern flatweaves come from one of the most underdeveloped and poorest regions of Iran. The artisans display a remarkable design sensibility, creating contemporary art with only the most basic materials.
