Antique Indian Pictorial Room Size Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The apparently unique field picture is adapted from Mughal Indian miniatures of the late 16^th century and shows a castle with various figural vignettes including a bedroom scene, a wall-climbing soldier, and a bloody tussle along the top of the wall. A large tree on a rocky base fills the lower center of the scene. Main darkest blue border with palmettes and inner sand minor with perching birds.
