An antique Persian Mashad carpet. Not quite a Herati design, but there are palmettes, short lancet leaves, and cloud band filaments in the allover pattern on the light brown field of this Khorassan city carpet. Mashad tends to favor numerous borders and this carpet has ten with a brown palmette and vine major stripe.
