A wool pile with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The straw-sand field of this city carpet features eight offset rows of U-shaped open floral forms, accompanied by small botehs and floret sprays. The buff border presents corner cloud bands, floret sprays, and pairs of 'wings.' 'Laver' or 'Lavar' is a corruption of 'Ravar,' a town in the Kerman district known for particularly fine rugs. Until relatively recently, each Kerman, as seen here, was specifically designed, giving them a distinct uniqueness among Persian pieces.
