A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This Farahan-Sarouk scatter shows the dervish attributes of a tiger skin for meditation, begging bowl, crossed axes, and a club for protection; all on a black ground with cypresses, weeping palm trees, and various rosettes and florets. Ivory main border with sinuous leafy stem and profile palmette flowers. A classic rendition of dervish iconography which was popular in c.1900 Farahan Sarouks.
