A wool pile with symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The border, with its numerous hooked elements, traces back centuries, but the striped pattern in black, tangerine, crimson, marigold, and off-white is strictly modern, floating on a densely abrashed moss-green field. The cotton foundation is a recent Turkish adaptation, as almost all classic Turkish rugs were traditionally woven on wool.
