An antique Persian Sarouk Square carpet. This solidly woven west Persian square carpet displays the familiar “American” style of detached flower sprays distributed all over a red field, with the navy main border of botehs and palmettes acting as an effective frame. These Sarouks were produced over a fifty year period and were probably the most popular Oriental rug ever. They wear incredibly well and one almost never sees a worn out an example.
