An antique Persian Mashad carpet. The buff ground of this NE Persian Khorossan town carpet displays an allover pattern of dark brown islimi (spiral or round vines) and ivory forked arabesques, along with a helping of palmettes and foliate elements. Lancet leaves, forked arabesques and palmettes decorate the brown main border.
