A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation, this exceptionally refined and large carpet features a straw-beige field adorned with a precise, classic design of palmettes, vinery, and cloud bands throughout. The palmettes are inverted, upright, and lazy, with the elements relatively small in proportion to the vast expanse of the field. The slate-colored main border presents palmettes in a barbed double strapwork. Finely knotted, urban craftsmanship, woven in a town near Istanbul.
