A wool pile in symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This large tribal piece resembles a Qashghai kilim but features an extraordinary display of lozenges uniformly enclosing hooked elements, in a range of shades including off-white (cotton), rust, red, rose, teal, light blue, cerulean blue, green, straw, and mustard, all set against a nearly black, mostly concealed ground. The inner yellow border showcases lozenges with arrowhead finials, while the outer border features a black and off-white reciprocal design. The cotton warp is a modern innovation, providing the carpet with a flat, dimensionally stable structure. In new condition.
