A Wool pile on a cotton foundation, this Swedish piece is extremely rare, as Art Deco designs appeared everywhere but seldom in Swedish pile rugs. The lemon yellow cruciform field is centered by an eight-lobed star, with abrashed slate blue rectangular corner pieces featuring small rosettes, along with rectangular end panels adorned with triangle designs. The ecru main border showcases an interesting continuous chain of squares and fretwork. A plain blue outer surround completes the design. Clearly unique, this rug appears to be a custom creation, especially given its proportions.
