A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. In an interpretation of Persian 17th century “Polonaise” rugs, the field is divided into coral and straw-sand areas, with a central palmette cruciform in coral. Rosettes and petal palmettes adorn the coral sections. Bold and simple border of tulips in a reciprocal pattern. The strongest color is in the border. Otherwise somewhat comfortable tonality. The design was probably adopted from an illustration of a period rug
