A vintage Persian Hamadan rug. The contrasting black field supports a boldly stepped rust lozenge medallion with ivory corners, four green birds and vases at each end. The angular pale blue flower stems tonally match the main border with its in-and-out fan palmettes. The slight vertical medallion offset adds to the informal charm of the piece.
