A vintage Persian Malayer Modernist rug. Everything is small squares. The field center is a red/ medium blue square mosaic; the surrounding field section is a dark blue/red chessboard, and two lesser borders have five-square quincunx designs. Only the off white main border with its colorful vine and flower bud design eschews the severely geometric. Tribal work from western or southern Persia.
