A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This village piece shows its Kazak sources with a soft salmon-rose field displaying three large tangent ecru-grey and abrashed red medallions, with tall, stemmed flowers to the sides and geometric hooked corner pieces. The narrow main red border shows two columns of S-shapes in chevron patterns. The field pattern may be found on antique Kazak rugs and here it has been simplified and emboldened.
