A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton and wool foundation. The madder field is closely covered by five slender, full-length light blue trees, each with blue branches bearing four complete rows of feathery leaves. The pattern is unique. A blue strip-style border of doubly bent leaves and bracketed rosettes frames the field, with a plain rust-brown outer surround that is slightly reduced at the ends. The wool-and-cotton warp banding is indicative of a piece from around 1870.
