Antique Persian Bidjar Oversize Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The deep blood-brick red field is densely covered with a continuous pattern of rosettes, ogival small medallions, and short forked arabesques, creating a two-level design that is roughly balanced across the carpet but subtly shifts toward one end. The strip-style green main border features rosettes and petal palmettes enclosed within acanthus-style, forked arabesque motifs. This is an incredibly solid and compactly woven carpet from the early revival of Bidjar weaving after WWI.
