A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This giant Farsi baff city carpet shows a pale buff field with a complex allover pattern of cloud bands, rotting petal rosettes, various petal palmettes, ragged rosettes, ragged palmettes and bits of arabesque vinery. The slate main border presents in and out palmettes, carnation and other flower sprays. Minor ecru borders with smaller palmettes. Medium weave. The light and dark verticals in the image are the result of folding when rolled.
