Antique Persian Veece Room Size Carpet

Asymmetric wool knot pile on a cotton foundation. Veece rugs are charming, uncommon oddballs among Persian rugs. Here, the open red field features a hexagonal hooked medallion enclosing a nested hooked central lozenge. Giant claw hooks reach toward the medallion from the slate corners, while hooked triangles project into the field from the sides. The ecru main border displays a 'tangerine flower' design. Nothing else looks quite like a Veece. Most production is antique. Moderate weave.
