A wool pile with symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This room-size city carpet in sandy beige features a symmetrized variant of the popular 'Vase carpet' allover design, with a large, two-plane, swerving lattice and palmette and rosette motifs at key intersections. Vase carpet variants were particularly popular in Tabriz before WWII. The sandy-straw, strip-style border incorporates two types of reversing palmettes. The crisp pile and restrained palette make this piece especially versatile.
