A wool pile with symmetric knots on a wool foundation. This very large urban Anatolian rug features a Smyrna allover design with five alternating columns of ragged bird's nest palmettes and lozenges formed by four leaves (yaprak design) on a pale green field, with cream details. The sand-straw main border showcases stiff hyacinth sprays and octalobe roses. Two outer minor borders display ribbon zigzags, while an inner minor border features a ribbon meander. The Smyrna border, created in the 18th century, has remained a staple of Oushak design ever since.
