A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The blue-grey and soft red field pattern is borrowed and enlarged from a traditional Khirghiz design of color diagonals composed of broad cruciform reserves that uniformly enclose a four-armed motif. In the original carpets, the blue is a dark navy and the red tends toward scarlet. A wide inner border features a tone-on-tone fret pattern, while the main border presents stepped diagonals, Vees, and zigzags.
