A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This city carpet shows an allover Turkic pattern of larger and smaller chessboard arrayed, dark and light squares, all with “double E” patterns, set horizontally or vertically. Browns, beiges and sand tones predominate. Inner maze fret border and main stripe with pairs of confronted dragons. The fierce animated Chinese dragons’ contrast with the formal geometric rigor of the field.
