A wool pile with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Although relatively recent, this small scatter rug features a bold and ingenious design, with a tall, stepped geometric medallion enclosing a star and diamond finial motif. The background consists of tiny ecru squares set against a straw-sand field with a subtle lattice pattern. The contrast between the squares and diamonds is particularly striking. It is framed by very narrow twin borders.
