Vintage Persian Pictorial Shiraz Rug

A wool pile with symmetric knots on a wool foundation. The naturally abrashed grey-brown field is centered by a hooked, faceted diamond and features six full rows of stylized deer, birds, and dancing Qashghai women in traditional colorful attire. The pattern also includes plump red birds and two stick figure humans. The ivory Syrga-pattern minor border adds a distinctive touch. The Qashghai, a Turkic people, incorporate the Syrga border, a design of Turkic/Turkmen origin.
