Vintage Turkish Oushak Carpet

Wool symmetric knots on a wool foundation. Though likely not vintage, this piece is older, as indicated by the dark wool warps. The classic “Turkey red” field features a spacious design of straight diagonal branches, palmettes, a central rosette, leaves, and other motifs, accented in old gold, light green, and ecru. The design has distant Persian influences. The narrow borders, in abrashed slate and red, feature identical patterns of arrowheads and crosses. Good condition for its age, and presented in an uncommon size.
